Founded in Jakarta under the name "Indonesian Employers' Consultative Body for Social Economic Affairs (PUSPI)" on 31st January 1952.

In accordance to the era development demand, the name "PUSPI" was amended into the Employers' Association of Indonesia (APINDO) in its 2nd National Conference in Surabaya in 1985.

APINDO is a democratic, free and independent employers' organization in Indonesia, which specially handles manpower / industrial relation affairs in Indonesia.

Reformation was started in 1998, which made a milestone redirection in:

  1. Democration
  2. Decentralization / Regional Autonomy
  3. Multi-Union
  4. New Paradigm of APINDO, new Vision and Mission
